For the past weeks, I have been teaching you a lot of tips and tricks to grow your email list, and to make your weekly email campaign more engaging and conversion-ready. However, there will be no use for all the things we discussed if your email goes straight to the spam folder.
So today, let me share with you seven email testing and delivery tools that you could use to make sure that your emails get to where you want them to be – THE INBOX. And oh, don’t worry, all these tools are totally budget-friendly!

Postmark is a free spam-testing tool for your email program. To use this tool, you must post not just your text copy and headers, but the HTML code of your email as well. For example, if some of your text are “bolded”, your html usually shows a “<b></b>” or a “<strong>” code. This makes the results more reliable, as the tool not only checks the words you’re using in the email, but your code as well.
Like Postmark, Email Spam Test offers its spam-testing tool for free. The results of the test are based from the email’s subject title, HTML source, plain text content and links analysis. Especially if you’re planning to include many outgoing links to your email copy, this tool will be so useful!
Litmus offers a free and paid version for their spam-testing tool. Some of the features of the free version are subject line checker (to see how your From label and subject line will look in different email programs), landing page links, plain text content, and HTML analysis. A free user can do one test per email address, which those who paid to get the pro version can do unlimited tests and gets results faster.
Lyrics does what most spam-testing tools do and more. Lyris checks the HTML and the content of your email, then gives you a score basing on the details you provided. You should aim for a zero, since this means that your email is sure to land your subscriber’s inbox. If you get a three or higher, however, you must check your content to ensure that it doesn’t get marked as spam.
Why more, you ask? Along with the score you get, Lyris also sends you links / resources that will help you better understand the process of email delivery and what you can do to improve yours.
Email Reach takes spam-testing for emails to a higher level. Instead of typing in your email copy plus the html code, they will provide you with a set of email addresses to test. You may download the list of email addresses and send those with a copy of your email. Email Reach will then show you how your emails looked like to the list they have provided you.
Pretty neat, huh? Email Reach can test email programs around the world and on mobile, but only offers 24 hours of FREE trial. When that expires, you will have to pay for the full version to continue using the tool.
Email on Acid is very similar to Email Reach. It checks the plain text copy and HTML, then lets you see a preview of your email, so you know how it looks in the screens of your subscribers. Free users can see previews for Gmail and Outlook 2003 while paid users get more inbox samples, analysis, and spam filter triggers.
Puts Mail has a unique take on spam-testing. Their process starts with sending you a sample copy of your email, so you know how it looks like. Then, when you need no corrections made, they will check the code of your email to see if there are any errors that could cause your email to be marked as spam. If there are any issues, these will be identified for you so you can correct them.
Test! Test! Test! This is one word I will never get tired of saying to my clients and followers, it’s the ONLY way to learn and gather data. When you want to succeed, you must test until you get things done the right way. This is true especially for Email Marketing, where it’s so easy to be marked spam if your code or email copy has errors. So use the tools above and avoid ending up in the spam folder.
